Power Core RP

IP Audio I/O & DSP Node For Remote Production

Remote Production Made Easy

Power Core RP v2 is a new license that turns a Power Core edge device into a comprehensive remote production solution for mc² audio consoles, complete with integrated modular I/O, IP streaming capabilities, and advanced DSP processing for 64 fully-featured processing channels, low-latency on-site monitoring, and IFB mixing.

Power Core RP, which supports Lawo’s HOME management platform, can be controlled from mc² consoles, with access to all relevant channel parameters. VisTool RP, a touch-screen optimized software GUI with Lawo’s unified LUX design, provides additional control for both local and remote operation.

All I/O parameters of Power Core RP can be remotely controlled from an mc² console’s channel strips, just as with any other Lawo stagebox. In addition, mc² consoles can control the DSP channels inside Power Core RP to offer control capabilities for up to 64 input channels and 16 stereo AUX busses. Remote channels can be mapped to the host console’s surface and offer parameter control for Fader, Mute, EQ + Filters, Dynamics, Delay. Remote inputs and AUX busses of Power Core RP can even be linked to local DSP channels of the host console to provide simultaneous control of on-air and remote mixes.

FLEXIBLE. REMOTE. LOW-LATENCY MAGIC.

Perfect Control

In addition to the control integration from a mc² console, Power Core RP v2 includes a touchscreen-optimized control GUI, VisTool RP, based on Lawo’s powerful VisTool software. This provides on-site as well as remote access to all parameters of Power Core RP, which is convenient for setting up prior to connecting the host console.

Unique remote-control possibilities include dynamic fader control as well as comprehensive connection management options that allow the Power Core RP v2 to be safely used with multiple mc² consoles.

Feature Details

The VisTool RP graphical user interface provides full and intuitive control of mixing and routing, as well as the powerful internal talkback system. Both the local and remote engineer can work simultaneously in VisTool RP, each with their own dedicated monitor busses that include AFL and PFL for DSP inputs and AUX busses. Additionally, while on-air, the host operator can lock out any on-site operation to prevent operation errors.

SMPTE ST2022-7 Class C receivers and unicast stream transmitters eliminate the need for dedicated WAN gateways from third-party suppliers, minimizing the complexity of remote productions and further reducing single points of failure.

With multiple high-density RAVENNA/AES67 and MADI interfaces as standard, Power Core is the perfect choice for remote broadcast scenarios. Choose from 10 modular Mic, Line, AES3, GPI/O and DANTE interfaces to fill its rear-panel slots and customize your signal mix even further.

Flexible Connectivity

2x MADI I/O

Power Core has loads of front-panel MADI, but you can add even more! Two SFP ports provide 64 channels each.

MADI I/O w/SRC

SFP MADI card with sample-rate conversion supports asynchronous operation with audio sources up to 96kHz.

8x Mic / Line In

Got mics? Of course you do. This card provides 8 switchable mic/line channels, with selectable phantom power.

8x Analog In

Even today’s digital world still has some analog sources. The Line interface provides 8 mono or 4 stereo inputs.

8x Analog Out

8 mono or 4 stereo outputs, to interface Power Core with your legacy equipment.

4x AES3 I/O

Connect your AES/EBU devices. Each card has 4 digital inputs (with sample rate conversion) and 4 digital outputs; bit-transparent.

4x AES3id I/O

AES/EBU I/O card for use with HD-BNC connections; 4 inputs with SRC, 4 outputs. Compatible with Dolby E sources; bit-transparent.

2x Dante I/O

The perfect way to connect to Dante networks. Two redundant ports give access to a total of 64 Dante streams.

Studio I/O

The Swiss army knife of interfaces. Each card adds 2 Mic/Line inputs, 2 Line outputs and 2 headphone outputs for on-air convenience.

Power Core GPIO Card

GPIO

8 GPI + 8 GPO, and
2 VCA inputs for control of external devices.

Extend Your I/O Even Further

Expand with the Audio I/O Extender

A Power Core RP for remote audio production already handles a substantial amount of audio inputs and outputs. The Audio I/O Extender (AIOX) for Power Core delivers up to 64 additional channels of I/O in just 1RU, for significant savings in rack space, power, and cost-per-input.

AIOX has 8 rear-panel slots that can host any combination of the available 8-channel analog or digital I/O cards (8x Analog In, 8x Analog Out, 8x MIC/Line In, 4x AES3 Out, Studio I/O, 4x AES3id I/O). Mix and match to easily expand your RAVENNA/AES67 network’s connection with more sources and destinations.

Up to 20 AIOX units can be connected to one Power Core engine, for a massive 1,280 analog or digital audio inputs and outputs, plus GPIO within just half the space of a typical rack.

Audio I/O Extender units can be distributed as multi-location edge devices using twisted-pair copper (up to 100 meters), coax, or fiber links that support Single- and/or Multi-mode operation, depending on the SFPs used. Audio and control share the same link.

Like the Power Core, AIOX features redundant power supplies and two audio/control ports for either single-mode or redundant-mode operation.

Remote Control via VisTool RP

In addition to the control integration from an mc² console, Power Core RP features a touch-screen optimized control GUI based on the Lawo VisTool screen design solution. This provides on-site as well as remote access to all parameters of Power Core RP, which is convenient for setting up prior to connecting the host console.

Power Core RP’s unique remote-control possibilities include dynamic fader control as well as comprehensive connection management options which allow the Power Core RP v2 to be safely used with multiple mc² consoles.

The feature set includes sophisticated test mode and lineup patterns, as well as controllable DIM levels to the talents’ ear-pieces for talkback from the director. The graphical interface also allows monitoring the control connection to the host console, the on-air status, and Sync. You can also monitor Listen and PFL, as well as the local talkback system. And while on air, any kind of on-site operation can be locked remotely from the host console to prevent operational errors.
